Points of Light Institute Tribute Event
On March 21, Points of Light Institute hosted “All Together Now: A Celebration of Service,” a historic, once-in-a-lifetime tribute to President and Mrs. George H. W. Bush for their leadership in founding and advancing the modern day service movement. The event celebrated the power of voluntary action and its essential role in solving our national challenges while calling on all Americans to find ways to give back.
Together with Presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, Points of Light Institute celebrated the visionary leadership of President Bush and the individuals who heard his call to action and created change in their communities. The night was filled with hope and a powerful spirit of bipartisan commitment to solving our country’s biggest problems through service. Joining us at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. was a star-studded line up of performers including Garth Brooks, Miranda Cosgrove, Cee Lo Green, Heather Headley, Jonny Lang, Reba McEntire, Sam Moore, Jim Nantz, Brad Paisley, Kid Rock, Darius Rucker, Mavis Staples and Carrie Underwood, each lending their voice to the power of voluntary action. The evening was inspirational, entertaining and galvanizing—and marked a collective investment made in service and the undeniable role it plays in addressing our nation's challenges.
“All Together Now: A Celebration of Services” was the culminating moment for Points of Light Institute's $30 million Service Generation Campaign, which will support pivotal strategies that define the next generation of service in our nation, and allow Points of Light Institute to reach our three-year goals. With the support of many generous donors, more than $30 million has been committed. These funds come at a time when Points of Light Institute is increasing investments in innovative programs, in technology, and international outreach to empower and equip volunteers. Thanks to you, we will continue to grow what President and Mrs. Bush started and nourished more than 22 years ago. And, we will be able to create the impact and innovation that is needed for today and tomorrow.
Special thanks to the Points of Light Institute Tribute Committee, our Congressional Committee members and our Social Media Ambassadors. Stewart & Stevenson, LLC, and Samsung provided underwriting support for the event.
